Upcycling Art Showcase at Miller Library in August 2024
CYCG is hosting a month-long upcycling artwork exhibition at Howard County Library System Miller Branch in August 2024. The display showcased over 60 amazing art pieces made from daily recycled household items by creative students. The exhibition lasts till the end of August and the location is Howard County Library Miller Branch, 9421 Frederick Rd, Ellicott City, MD 21042.

CYCG Milk Carton Desk Organizer Upcycle (11/18/2023)
What can we do with empty milk cartons? Please do not throw them away! With a little bit imagination, they could be turned into plant pots, pencil holders, bird feeders, toy houses, wallets, and more. On November 18, 2023, CYCG shared a very simple way to turn milk cartons into pretty desk organizers! The finished artworks are surprisingly beautiful! Everyone had so much fun!
CYCG Paper Jewelry Upcycle Art Class (10/21/2023)
The global consumption of paper was about 408 million tons in 2021. This is projected to continue rising. How can you upcycle paper, magazines, flyers, gift wraps, and cartons? CYCG shared a very simple way to upcycle daily paper into beautiful bracelets and earrings. They are unique and perfect gifts for your loved ones! About 50+ community members participated in this event and made various artworks such as personalized bracelets, necklaces, earrings, gift boxes, and Halloween crafts. The event was instructed by Amanda Wang and assisted by CYCG volunteers.

National Night Out Festival 2024
National Night Out Festival 8/6/2024
On August 6, 2024, CYCG hosted a very popular craft booth to teach kids some upcycling crafts on the National Night Out Festival. CYCG focused on the paper upcycling this time since increasing paper waste is a global problem. CYCG taught kids to make retractable umbrellas, paper roses, and paper jewelry from used paper, magazine, and gift wrap. The booth attracted hundreds of community members. CYCG would like to share that the upcycling could be very easy and fun. Maryland State Delegate Dr. Chao Wu visited the booth and praised the students for their dedication.
National Night Out Festival 8/1/2023
On August 1, 2023, CYCG proudly participated the 2023 Howard County National Night Out Event, hosted by Howard County Police Department at Wilde Lake Middle School, 6pm to 9pm. Among 61 vendors, CYCG was the only student-led organization.
CYCG's DIY Bokashi Buckets turned out to be the most popular giveaway booth in the event. Students distributed 90 DIY buckets with DIY water bottle inserts, 1 pound bags of Bokashi bran, and educational brochures. CYCG also hosted an upcycling booth to teach kids how to make paper bracelets. Both programs were sponsored by the Howard County Youth Engagement Program (YEP!). Residents visited the booth and learned about the easy and simple indoor composting method. The event went very successfully and CYCG received a lot of accomplishments for their efforts.

On 8/2/2022, CYCG was invited to the Clarksville Commons National Night Out (NNO) celebration. National Night Out is a community building campaign that prompts Police-Community bonding. Howard County Executive Calvin Ball and BoE member Chao Wu visited the booth and highly praised the student group. CYCG presented hand-made thank-you cards to police officers and firefighters and thanked them for their dedication to keep the community safe. Additionally, CYCG also hosted the paper flower upcycle project which attracted many young kids! Thanks to Arthur, Amanda, Grace C, Michael S, Emily S, Grace Z, and Wendy for hosting the booth!

Paper Rose Upcycling Art 7/30/2022
On 7/23/2022, CYCG participated in the Clarksville Commons Farmer's Market. CYCG sold student-hand-made crafts, such as hand-drawn T-shirts, pencil pouches, scrunchies, greeting cards, and hosted a free upcycle craft. Hand-made dry-flower cards, hand-painted/drawn cards, stone cards were very popular. This week, they taught kids how to make beautiful flowers or wall art from a toilet paper roll. Thanks Amanda, Jeremy, Claire, Michael, Jiaming, Isa, and Wendy for running the booth!On 7/30/2022, CYCG hosted a very popular upcycle project, teaching young kids how to make paper roses from old magazines or post-it notes. Over 30 kids visited the booth and learned how to make the long-lasting beautiful roses which are perfect for Mother's Day, Teacher Appreciation week, birthday gifts, or for decoration. The student-made cards were still very popular and attracted many people. Thanks to Amanda, Grace, Isa, Jiaming, Wendy, Anna, Nicole, and Annie for running the booth!

CYCG in Farmers Market 7/19/2022
On July 16, 2022, Clarksville Youth Care Group hosted a booth at Clarksville Common's Farmers Market! The booth offered various handmade items made by students, such as hand-drawn animal T-shirts, pencil pouches, dry flower cards, hand-painted cards, and face masks. CYCG also hosted a free weekly upcycle project to prompt environmental sustainability. Many young kids learned how to turn magazines into beautiful paper beads bracelets. Amanda, Jeremy, Barbara, Emily Z, Claire, Wendy and Yuehao ran the booth. Congress man John Sarbanes visited the booth and congratulated the group for their achievements.
